Welcome to The Jessica Journey! I originally started my blog in 2015, and took a break in 2018 to pursue In Succulent Love, my online plant business. Fast forward to 2023, I am back to blogging and ready to share all the things! Welcome to my new blog!
The Jessica Journey is a platform where I share my personal travel recommendations, local things to do in San Diego (my hometown), and my journey through parenting! In addition to this blog, our Instagram blog is where we like to hangout!
Since taking a break from blogging in 2018, there has been several life changes and a couple of additions to the Journey! In the time away from blogging, I was focused on my business In Succulent Love full time. I got married in 2019 and had a baby in 2023. More life highlights can be found below.
As of late 2023, I have currently traveled to 44 countries throughout Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, and North America. I have also traveled to over half of the United States. We love to tropical travel, and I am always planning my vacations around where I can get a glimpse of sea turtles. I also have quite the love affair with all things Italy.
San Diego, California is my hometown, and where we live. I was born and raised here, and love to share all my favorite local things to do.
P, B & J stands for Preston (my husband), Brantley (my son), and Jessica (me)! We welcomed our first baby in March 2023, and have learned quite the lessons of traveling with him. Although the blog is called The Jessica Journey, they are on this crazy journey with me!
In Succulent Love is an online botanical boutique, specializing in unique tropical plants, succulents, arrangements, and DIY kits. We are located in San Diego, California and can ship anywhere within the USA. In-between travelling, we run this business full time, hand-selecting each and every plant. This business helps support all of our travels!
In January of 2014, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy. I spent a month studying Italian Fashion History, and started my love affair with Italy.
In December of 2015, I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Communication. The best advice I received while in school was to start an Instagram around one idea. I chose to do a succulent Instagram which became In Succulent Love, and a travel Instagram, which became The Jessica Journey.
In 2015, I started The Jessica Journey on Instagram. My Instagram blog then turned into my online blog. I blogged on that site from 2015-2018, and recently came back to blogging in 2023!
In April 2018, In Succulent Love was created. In Succulent Love is our online botanical boutique that we own. We ship plants all across the USA.
In June of 2019, Preston and I got married in Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego. After dating for three years, we decided to become us.
In June/July of 2019, we spent 2.5 weeks honeymooning in Bali, Indonesia. Bali was the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and exotic landscape for our Balimoon!
In October of 2019, Stylish Succulent Designs & Other Botanical Crafts was debuted. This is a DIY botanical book which I spent 2018 writing.
In July of 2020, we purchased our first home in my hometown of San Diego. We love to share all the best local things to do in San Diego while we are home.
In July of 2022, while in Italy, we found out we were pregnant! We had quite the romantic couple of weeks in Italy, and apparently, what happens in Italy, does not stay in Italy. There was more than just pasta in my belly!
In November of 2022, we took our babymoon in Maui, Hawaii for 10 days. Maui holds a special place in our hearts, and was the perfect last vacation before becoming parents.
In March of 2023, we welcomed our baby boy, Brantley! Brantley was born on St. Patrick's day, and will forever be our good luck charm!
In June of 2023, we took our first trip as a family of three. Brantley was just three months old! We took a weekend trip up the coast of California to Santa Barbara. This was the perfect trip before taking B on his first flight!
