Starting with my first several trips at just a couple months old, I fell madly in love with traveling from the beginning. What I enjoy most is being pushed outside of my comfort zone and experiencing life from various places in the world. It is not about the number of places one has been, but more about the number of experiences one has had.
San Diego has always been and always will be home for me. Most people get sad on their return flight home from traveling, but I never complain about coming back home. When I am not traveling, I spend my time playing tourist in San Diego.
The Jessica Journey got started as an undergrad project while in school. I earned my degree in Communication, with an emphasis in PR and Marketing. One day a PR firm came into our class and challenged us to start a themed Instagram. I thought to myself what are some things I like. Travel has always been a priority in my life, so I started a travel themed Instagram blog, @thejessicajourney.
After finishing school, I decided to take my passion from Instagram blogging to blogging on my own website. This has been one of the biggest hurdles to overcome. I love writing and taking photos, but what I do not love is anything involving technical abilities. Trying to teach oneself how to use WordPress is so much harder than I have ever anticipated. I wanted to give up so many times, but I knew the end result would be worth it. It took me multiple breakdowns and nine months after buying my URL to actually publish my site, which you can now see today!
My favorite place in the world is Italy, specifically Florence. While in college, I studied abroad and lived in Florence, where I started my love affair with all things Italian. My family is Polish and Italian heritages, but I have always felt the most connected with the Italian part, which is why I chose to study in Italy. In addition to Italy, I love Akumal, Mexico for their sea turtles, and all places warm and tropical. Through my travel addiction, I have managed to rack up 38 and counting countries and almost half of the states.
After graduating college, I bought myself a present. As most college grads go out and travel or buy a car, I decided I wanted a fur child. The day I returned home from my trip in Akumal, Mexico, I picked up a puppy! Of course I had to name him after one of my favorite places, so Capri it is! Capri is an Alaskan Klee Kai, which is essentially a miniature husky.
Often times I get asked, where to next? I tend to plan about one trip a month, but I always plan last min, so I can promise you, I will keep you guessing and on your toes! For now, I will leave my suitcase in accessible reach, so I can pack at a moment’s notice!
